About Harlequin
Harlequin says it was founded in the 1960s, without giving an exact year, and its portfolio is a mix of techniques, artistic styles and textures across transitional designs. It came into its present group in 1987, when Walker Greenbank bought Wallcoverings International, a purchase that brought Zoffany and the Anstey Wallpaper Company with it.
That group renamed itself Sanderson Design Group in 2020, and Harlequin is one of its British interior brands. Harlequin was among the first of them to take up digital design techniques, and all of its printed fabrics and wallpapers are designed and made in the United Kingdom at the group's own manufacturing sites.
Anthology, which also appears on our roster, is now sold under Harlequin, so the two share a book in the pattern-book room.
It is the contemporary end of the Sanderson group and the one we suggest when a customer likes the idea of a British-printed cloth but does not want a period pattern. Printed in this country also means a reprint is weeks rather than months if a job needs more metres.
