Colefax and Fowler

Melrose Old Blue

Marius FabricF4843-01

Melrose Old Blue reads as a soft cream ground with a delicate, leafy stripe in faded blue and pale sage. The botanical motif feels airy and measured, giving the design a light, classic rhythm.

About this fabric

This Colefax and Fowler fabric from the Marius collection is woven in a 63% linen, 28% viscose and 9% polyester blend, with an approximate width of 129cm and a vertical repeat of 40cm and horizontal repeat of 43cm. In this colourway, the ground is a warm cream with a slightly matte, natural look, while the trail design is picked out in washed blue, pale green and tiny ivory detailing. The motif is spaced in tall vertical runs, so the overall effect is elegant rather than busy, and the linen-rich handle suits both curtains and softer upholstered pieces. Care code Q 8 + T 3 and fire code √BM are supplied for this exact fabric.

How to use it

Use Melrose Old Blue where you want a fresh but restrained botanical note; it works especially well against chalky paint colours, limed woods and muted blue-green accents. The pale ground helps the pattern sit quietly in daylight, making it a good choice for drapery or an occasional chair.

Pairs well with painted wood and blue-green accents for a calm, tailored room.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
