Blues Paint

Blue Blood is a poised, mid-dark blue with a cool, tailored feel. It has enough depth to sit confidently on walls, yet it stays readable rather than heavy.

About this colour

This shade reads as a strong blue with a slight softened edge, sitting between navy and slate without turning grey. Its depth absorbs a fair amount of light, so it feels richer in a room than a pale blue would, but the colour value keeps it clear rather than inky. In north-facing light it becomes cooler and more sober, with the blue leaning towards steel and shadow. In south-facing light it opens a little, showing more of its blue character and a touch more clarity on the wall. It works well beside pale oak, walnut, chalky whites and deep greens, where its restraint gives the other finishes room to stand out.

How to use it

Blue Blood suits sitting rooms, studies and bedrooms where a calm, considered backdrop is wanted. It is especially good with painted woodwork in off-white, or alongside upholstery in natural linen, brown leather and dark patterned weaves.

A deep blue like this gives a room structure without feeling stark.
