Pinks and Purples Paint

Evening, Ethel is a muted pinky taupe with a calm, settled feel. It sits in Coat Paints’ Pinks and Purples range, but reads more as a warm dusky neutral than a clear pink.

About this colour

This shade has a soft beige-brown base with a gentle rose tint, so it lifts a room lightly without ever feeling bright. In north-facing light it can look cooler and a little more mushroom-like, with the pink tone pulled back. In south-facing rooms it warms up and shows more of its rosy side, staying restrained rather than sweet. It sits neatly beside natural wood, oatmeal weaves, aged brass and deeper berry or plum accents, and it can also soften painted joinery in the same room.

How to use it

Use it in sitting rooms, bedrooms or hallways where you want a calm wall colour that is not stark. It works especially well with oak, walnut, cream upholstery and deeper patterned fabrics in plum, rust or tobacco tones.

A quiet warm neutral with a rose note that shifts gently with the light.
