Timeless Velvets Velvet

Madison Carnelian is a richly coloured plain velvet, shown here in a deep burnt-orange shade with a softly textured surface. The short pile catches the light gently, giving the colour subtle depth rather than a flat appearance.

About this fabric

Catalogued as velvet, Madison Carnelian has the plush, close-textured surface visible in this swatch and is best suited to upholstery. Its carnelian tone sits between earthy orange and warm rust, with enough saturation to make a confident statement without reading as bright tangerine. Fine changes in the pile create slightly lighter and darker passages across the surface, adding depth to the otherwise plain design. No performance features are noted for this fabric.

How to use it

Use this warm burnt-orange colourway to bring depth to a reading chair, sofa or upholstered headboard, particularly alongside walnut, aged brass and quieter cream or brown textiles. Its plush surface makes it especially effective where the upholstery is intended to be a tactile focal point.

A warm, saturated velvet with a softly shifting pile, suited to statement upholstery and inviting accent seating.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
