Marigold China Blue/Ivory

Morris 160th Anniversary Fabric FabricMOF0040-06

Marigold China Blue/Ivory pairs a cool, softly faded blue with an ivory ground in a closely packed botanical design. Fine stems, feathery leaves and rounded flowers interlock across the swatch, giving the surface a pale, lightly textured appearance.

About this fabric

The 260gsm cloth has a 137cm usable width, with the design repeating every 22.5cm vertically and 23cm horizontally. Against the ivory base, the China blue reads muted rather than bright, so the floral tracery feels airy and gently timeworn instead of high-contrast. Large feathery leaf sprays sit beside small clustered blossoms and outlined flowers, creating a detailed all-over rhythm at medium scale. With its mid-weight specification, it is classified for both upholstery and drapery; no performance features are noted in the supplied specification.

How to use it

Use the cool China blue and ivory colourway to soften a traditional sitting room, pairing it with chalky painted furniture, pale timber or warm natural finishes. Its compact botanical repeat would work equally well on occasional upholstery, cushions or relaxed curtains.

A softly faded blue-and-ivory botanical for light, characterful upholstery or curtains.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Marigold China Blue/Ivory without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
