About this colour

It absorbs more light than it reflects, so it can make a room feel calmer and more enclosed rather than bright. In north-facing light it turns cooler and a little deeper, with the red shifting towards plum. In south-facing light the warmth comes forward and the colour looks richer, sitting well beside aged oak, dark walnut, cream paintwork, and upholstery in claret, moss, or biscuit tones.
