Mulberry Ancient Tartan Red/Blue

This Red/Blue colourway gives the Ancient Tartan check a softened, timeworn character. Brick-red and cool slate-blue bars are tempered by tan, grey and olive-brown lines, creating a layered plaid that feels deep without becoming vivid.

About this wallpaper

Ancient Tartan Red/Blue lays out a regular plaid of softened brick red, dusky blue and taupe-brown, crossed by narrow pinstripes and broader translucent bands. The image reads muted rather than bright: the blue sits cool against earthy red and tan, while darker intersections give the check depth. Made from 100% non-woven material, it is supplied at 70 cm (27.5") wide. Its 23 cm (9.04") vertical pattern repeat keeps the tartan rhythm clear, and the surface is spongeable for after-care.

How to use it

Use this colourway to bring depth to a study, snug or bedroom, pairing its cool slate-blue and muted red with aged timber, warm neutrals and brushed metal. Its softened tartan scale works especially well as a feature wall where the layered checks can be seen at full height.

A layered tartan plaid in softened red, cool blue, taupe and earthy brown for characterful feature walls.

Pairs well with

Mulberry Ancient Tartan Red/Blue is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
