Colbie Indigo

Elbury Fabric

Colbie Indigo is a deep, cool-toned blue woven with closely spaced vertical rows of delicate pale motifs. Its softly flecked surface gives the dark indigo ground gentle visual depth rather than a flat, solid appearance.

About this fabric

The design is made up of small linked leaf or almond-shaped forms, repeated in narrow vertical columns across the cloth. Pale blue-grey and muted neutral threads stand out against the indigo base, creating a finely patterned effect that remains restrained at a distance. A subtle woven irregularity can be seen through the motif, adding tactile texture and stopping the colour from reading as uniform. No composition, width, rub test or performance specification has been supplied for this fabric.

How to use it

Use this cool indigo colourway on a tailored chair, bench or full-length curtain, then soften it with chalky blue-grey plains and natural linen tones. Its dense small-scale pattern also works well as a quiet patterned layer beside warm wood.

Pair the cool indigo ground with pale neutrals, warm timber and softly textured plains for a balanced scheme.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
