About this fabric

The colour reads as a muted, cool steel grey rather than a warm taupe or blue-grey, giving the fabric a calm, contemporary depth. A fine crosshatch weave is clearly visible across the surface, creating a lightly tactile finish without a distinct printed motif. The folded cloth catches the light unevenly, making the grey appear deeper in the creases and gently softened across the raised areas. This close-up also shows a fluid drape and an even woven construction.

How to use it

Pair Chiltern Steel with pale stone, chalk or soft white to lift its cool grey tone, or use it alongside charcoal accents for a more layered, tonal scheme. Its understated texture can add depth to seating, cushions or relaxed window treatments without introducing a strong pattern.

A cool steel-grey woven texture that brings quiet depth to upholstery, cushions or softly folded drapery.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
