Houghton Fabric

Houghton Ink combines a muted taupe-beige ground with an intricate arrangement of dusty blue-grey florals, scrolling leaves and paisley forms. The softly textured surface gives the colourway a gently weathered, layered appearance.

About this fabric

The ground reads as a warm, subdued taupe beige, while the pattern is drawn in faded ink, slate and blue-grey tones that create cool contrast without appearing stark. Large scrolling flowers and paisley shapes sit among smaller botanical details, giving the surface a dense but balanced rhythm. Fine tonal variation across the ground softens the outlines and makes the design feel gently aged rather than crisp or highly graphic. The visible texture catches the light unevenly, adding depth to this richly patterned fabric.

How to use it

Pair Houghton Ink with warm natural woods, aged brass and soft cream upholstery to draw out its taupe-beige ground. Its dusty blue-grey accents also suit a calm study, bedroom or traditionally styled sitting room.

Use the muted taupe-beige ground and dusty blue-grey pattern to bring layered colour to upholstery, cushions or relaxed curtains.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
