Solitaire Storm

Checkmate Fabric

Solitaire Storm is a cool, layered grey textile with a finely lined surface. Its close-set horizontal striations create gentle tonal movement rather than a bold graphic pattern.

About this fabric

The image shows a storm-grey ground crossed by very narrow horizontal lines, with lighter and darker threads combining to give the surface subtle depth. The texture reads as closely woven and lightly ridged, while the restrained contrast keeps the stripe calm and tailored. No composition, width, rub-test or performance specification is supplied for this colourway. In changing light, the cool grey shifts softly between silvery grey and deeper charcoal, giving the fabric a composed, quietly architectural character.

How to use it

Use Solitaire Storm on a streamlined sofa, occasional chair or full-length window treatment where its cool grey tone can sit alongside chalky whites, blackened metal and pale timber. The fine stripe is especially suited to rooms needing texture without a dominant pattern.

Use the cool storm-grey stripe to bring quiet texture to tailored seating, blinds or curtains.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Solitaire Storm without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
