Voltaire Nuage

Voltaire FabricM4130-09

Voltaire Nuage is a softly toned grey cloth with a gentle, mist-like finish and a fine vertical weave visible across the swatch. Its quiet surface reads clean and modern rather than stark, with just enough texture to keep the colour alive.

About this fabric

This colourway sits in a pale, silvery grey range with a cool, airy feel and a subtle natural slub that comes through in the weave. The 140cm approximate width makes it practical for a wide range of furnishing projects, and the composition of 42% cotton, 38% viscose, 15% polyester and 5% linen gives it a balanced, softly textural handle. With no repeat to contend with, the plain surface is especially straightforward for upholstery or window treatments where a calm ground is needed. The understated sheen from the viscose keeps Nuage from looking flat, while the linen content adds a dry, tailored character.

How to use it

Use this misty grey beside chalk whites, pale oak and brushed metal for a restrained scheme with depth. It is an easy choice for bench seats, headboards or curtains where you want softness without introducing a strong colour statement.

A calm neutral that works neatly across tailored upholstery and relaxed drapes.

Pairs well with

Voltaire Nuage is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
