Nocturne
Riva Carpet
Nocturne is a near-black charcoal carpet with a softly mottled surface, where fine grey fibres break up the depth of the ground. The close-cropped image shows a tactile pile rather than a printed or woven motif.

About this carpet
Catalogued as Carpet and specified as Soft Deep Pile, Nocturne has a plush-looking surface with visible height and a softly irregular texture. Its charcoal-black ground reads cool and deep, while scattered grey flecks catch the light across the pile to create gentle tonal variation. There is no repeated graphic pattern; the interest comes from the close, peppered texture and the way the fibres shift between black, charcoal and grey. The result is a quiet, grounded colourway with more visual depth than a flat black.
How to use it
Pair this deep charcoal-black colourway with pale timber, concrete tones or warm metallic accents so its grey flecking can soften the overall contrast. It also works as a grounding textural element alongside lighter boucle, linen or plain neutral surfaces.
Use this near-black, softly flecked pile to bring grounded texture and depth to a contemporary interior.

Pairs well with
Nocturne is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it
Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
