About this colour
This shade #A36A56 has a muted clay-and-brick balance, so it brings warmth without feeling sugary or sharp. On a wall it absorbs a fair amount of light, making it feel fuller and more intimate than a paler red, while still leaving enough warmth to stop it from going heavy. In a north-facing room it will look deeper and more brown, with the red softened by cooler light. In a south-facing room the terracotta notes come forward and the colour feels warmer, drier and more солнеч-like, especially in Flat Matt or Claypaint finishes. It sits well beside natural oak, walnut and painted woodwork in softer creams, tobacco browns, olives and upholstered pieces in russet, camel or worn leather tones.
How to use it
Use Spanked in a sitting room, study or dining room where you want the walls to feel settled and enveloping. It works especially well with pale timber joinery, dark stained wood, and upholstery in linen weaves, velvet, or patterned fabrics that carry rust, ochre or umber.
On a wall, Spanked reads as a warm terracotta with a calm, grounded presence.
