About this colour

This shade sits between clay red and burnt orange, so it reads warm rather than sugary or sharp. Its #B16936 value gives it enough depth to hold its own on a wall, while still lifting a room more than a dense brick red would. In north-facing light it can feel quieter and more brown, with the orange softened back; in south-facing light the red warmth comes forward and the colour looks fuller and richer. On woodwork it would bring a bold, grounded edge, especially beside pale linen tones, dark walnut, honey oak or muted olive upholstery. In Flat Matt it will look softer and more mineral; in Eggshell or Soft Sheen it will feel a touch more tailored for joinery.

How to use it

Mezcal suits living rooms, dining rooms and snug spaces where a warm, enveloping wall colour works well with timber and natural upholstery. It sits neatly beside oat, camel, tobacco brown, deep green and cream on curtains, cushions and upholstered chairs.

On a wall, Mezcal gives a room a warm terracotta glow with a steady, earthy feel.
