Old Street

Reds and Yellows Paint

Old Street is a grounded red-brown with a clay note, sitting firmly in Coat Paints’ Reds and Yellows range. It has the feel of an aged terracotta wall colour, with enough brown in it to keep it calm rather than sharp.

About this colour

This shade reads as a warm, earthy red-brown with moderate depth, so it takes the edge off bright light rather than bouncing it back. In north-facing rooms it can turn quieter and slightly more muted, showing its brown side first. In south-facing light the red in it comes forward and the colour feels warmer and fuller without becoming brash. On walls it sits comfortably beside oak, walnut and painted joinery, and it works well with linen-toned upholstery, camel leathers and muted greens.

How to use it

Old Street suits sitting rooms, dining rooms and hallways where you want warmth without going into a true red. It works particularly well on woodwork with natural timber, or beside upholstery in mushroom, olive, tobacco and soft cream tones.

On a wall, Old Street brings a warm red-brown depth that feels steady and earthy.
