HACKNEY EMPIRE Velvet - Midnight

fabric Velvet1-FA-HAC-VE-MID-XXX-100

HACKNEY EMPIRE Velvet in Midnight sets vividly painted animals and curling leaves against a deep blue-black ground. The near-black shade gives the busy scene a nocturnal, theatrical depth, while touches of pink, rust, cream and blue catch the light.

About this fabric

This velvet features a large-scale illustrated menagerie, including toucans, monkeys, flamingos, squirrels and other richly detailed creatures intertwined with pale leaves. Midnight reads as a cool, almost black navy rather than a flat black, creating strong contrast with the saturated jewel-like accents. The velvet construction makes it particularly suited to upholstery, where the dark ground can give a chair, headboard or sofa a dramatic presence. No additional performance specifications are supplied for this fabric.

How to use it

Use Midnight on a statement armchair, ottoman or occasional sofa in a richly layered room, pairing its blue-black depth with aged brass, warm timber and accents that pick up the artwork’s coral, pink and ochre tones.

Use this dark, theatrical velvet on statement upholstery where its jewel-toned animal illustrations can take centre stage.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
