Altar Gold is a warm, muted golden-taupe woven fabric with a broken ivory motif running across its surface. Close up, the design reads as a softly irregular vertical texture rather than a flat plain.

About this fabric

The golden-taupe ground has a gentle brown warmth, while the small pale threads create a lightly flecked, dimensional surface. Its 453gsm weight and 108 threads per cm give the cloth a dense, substantial handle suited to upholstery. The broken motif repeats every 22.2cm vertically and 16.5cm horizontally, keeping the pattern detailed and finely scaled. With a 136cm usable width, it offers a practical working width for upholstered pieces.

How to use it

Use Altar Gold on a structured armchair, headboard or sofa where its warm taupe-gold depth can sit alongside timber, aged brass and creamy neutrals. The small ivory breaks in the weave add quiet texture without overpowering a tailored form.

The dense 453gsm weave and warm golden-taupe colouring make this a strong choice for tailored upholstery.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
