Portland Waterbury Clay Flat

SS22 Images - Enchanted Garden, Geometrica, Water Meadow & Portland Fabric

Portland Waterbury Clay Flat reads as a calm, pale clay stripe with a gentle vertical rhythm on a light ground. The design is crisp and understated, with the stripe spacing giving the fabric a tailored, quietly architectural feel.

About this fabric

Woven in 100% cotton, this fabric has a usable width of 137cm and a 35cm horizontal pattern repeat, with no vertical repeat. The heavy domestic rating and 30,000 Martindale make it suitable for upholstery as well as drapery and accessories, while FR treatment is available for both curtains and seating. Visually, the colourway sits in a soft putty-cream range rather than a stark white, so the narrow vertical stripes feel subtle and airy. The overall effect is neat and refined, with just enough contrast to define the stripe without making it hard or graphic.

How to use it

This pale clay tone works well in rooms that need lightness with a little order, such as relaxed living rooms, bedrooms or tailored dining chairs. Pair it with oak, stone, chalky paint colours and textured neutrals to keep the look soft and elegant.

Use for tailored curtains or clean-lined upholstery where a quiet stripe adds structure without overpowering the room.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
