Orkney Charcoal

Orkney Boucle Fabric

Orkney Charcoal is a deep charcoal-grey boucle with a softly irregular, fleecy surface. Its close tonal variation gives the dark shade visible depth rather than a flat, uniform appearance.

About this fabric

The colour reads as a cool, softened charcoal, with subtle shifts between soot grey and lighter slate-grey fibres across the surface. Irregular looped texture creates a nubby, almost clouded finish that is clearly visible in close-up. The dark tone gives the fabric a grounded, understated mood, while the raised texture keeps it tactile and visually dimensional. As a fabric rather than a patterned textile, its character comes from the dense-looking boucle weave and tonal movement.

How to use it

Pair this cool charcoal colourway with pale timber, chalky walls or warm natural textiles to balance its depth. It is especially effective on upholstered seating where the fleecy texture can be appreciated up close.

Use this cool, deep charcoal boucle to bring tactile softness and grounded contrast to upholstery.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
