About this colour

In #89847E, Baluster reads as a warm, muted taupe-grey with enough depth to hold its own without feeling heavy. On a wall, it absorbs more light than a pale neutral, so it gives a room a settled, upholstered feeling rather than a bright wash. In north-facing rooms it can lean cooler and a little more stone-like, while in south-facing light the warmer beige side comes forward and softens the shade. It works well beside natural oak, walnut, deep brown timber and muted textiles in oatmeal, charcoal, olive and aged metal finishes.

How to use it

Use Baluster in sitting rooms, studies or hallways where you want a calm backdrop for painted joinery or classic woodwork. It also suits upholstery in flax, tobacco, moss or ink tones, where the colour can sit quietly around the room.

Baluster is a soft, usable neutral that brings depth without making a room feel dark.
