About this colour

This shade sits in the darker part of the blue range, with a cool base and a charcoal cast that helps it absorb light rather than bounce it back. On a wall it reads crisp and composed, with enough depth to feel enveloping but not harsh. In a north-facing room it can turn quieter and more slate-like, while in south-facing light the blue comes forward more clearly and the grey edge softens. It works well beside pale linen, warm oak, aged brass and deeper inky upholstery tones, where its muted character gives the other finishes room to breathe.

How to use it

Use Dock Blue for a study, library or boot room where you want walls or joinery to feel grounded. It pairs neatly with walnut, painted shelving and upholstery in stone, camel or deep green shades.

On a wall, Dock Blue gives a room a dark, calm blue backdrop with a cool, disciplined feel.
