Seaweed Ink/Woad

Morris 160th Anniversary Fabric FabricMOF0058-01

Seaweed Ink/Woad layers a deep, cool woad-blue ground with curling botanical forms in seaweed green, muted blue, cream and ochre. The dense repeat has an illustrated, timeworn richness, with golden flower heads and pale ornamental rosettes catching the eye across the swatch.

About this fabric

This 230 gsm fabric has a 139 cm usable width, giving the detailed pattern room to read across both upholstery and drapery applications. Its 70.5 cm vertical repeat and 69.5 cm horizontal repeat create a closely organised field of curling leaves, blue botanical clusters, ochre blooms and cream scrollwork. The near-navy woad passages give the colourway a cool, grounded depth, while the muted seaweed and stone-like tones soften the contrast. The supplied construction records 92 threads per centimetre, and no performance features are noted.

How to use it

Use the dark woad ground on a statement armchair, headboard or full-length curtain where the cream rosettes and ochre flowers can emerge from the depth of the design. Balance its cool blue-green palette with warm oak, aged brass and quiet natural neutrals.

Pair the cool woad ground with warm timber, aged brass and natural linen for a richly layered interior.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
