About this fabric

This Emile II fabric by Jane Churchill is composed of 50% cotton and 50% polyester, with an approximate width of 140cm and a vertical/horizontal repeat of 0cm, so the plain weave presents without any visible pattern interruption. In this swatch, the colour sits in a very deep midnight blue with a cool, near-black finish that absorbs light rather than reflecting it. The surface looks smooth and tightly woven, giving the cloth a polished, disciplined feel. With care code C 8 + T 3 and fire code K, it is a practical choice for schemes that need a dark, tailored textile.

How to use it

Use Emile Midnight on a sofa or bench for a crisp, architectural look, then soften it with pale linens, brushed metal and warm timber. The near-black navy tone also works well for cushions where you want depth without the harshness of pure black.

Use to add a sleek, tonal depth on tailored seating or cushions.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
