About this fabric

This textile is built around medium-scale horizontal and vertical bands, creating a loosely defined plaid with uneven, slightly broken edges. Warm ochre, tobacco brown and golden-brown areas are layered with charcoal and near-black lines, giving the check a shaded, aged character. The visible weave is highly textured, with small raised flecks and slubby highlights catching across the surface. Its substantial-looking handle and pronounced pattern make it particularly well suited to upholstery applications.

How to use it

Use 1570/AU24 on a statement armchair, footstool or compact sofa where its ochre warmth can anchor a room. Balance the checked surface with dark wood, aged leather and quiet neutral walls, or pick out the golden-brown notes with brass accents.

A richly textured ochre-brown check with charcoal depth for relaxed, characterful upholstery.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
