About this fabric

The dominant scarlet ground makes this colourway vivid and energetic, while the black and deep green lines add depth across the broad checks. Navy, mustard yellow and white pinstripes sharpen the grid and create intricate detail within the larger red blocks. A visibly close, slightly brushed weave softens the contrast of the pattern and keeps the surface from looking flat. The substantial-looking textile is particularly well suited to upholstery where its classic tartan structure can be seen clearly.

How to use it

Pair the scarlet ground with dark timber, aged leather and warm neutral walls for a traditional room, or use it as a lively statement on a compact occasional chair against charcoal or deep green.

Use this vivid scarlet tartan to give an armchair, footstool or window seat a confident heritage character.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
