Ailsa blue

Folklore Fabricailsa/fa1/cor

Ailsa Blue takes the Folklore design into a cool, airy palette of dusty blue, soft aqua and gentle lilac on a pale grey ground. The overall effect is fresh and painterly, with the pattern reading as layered meadow stems and stylised seed heads rather than a heavy floral.

About this fabric

Woven in 100% cotton at 230gsm, this fabric has enough substance to hang neatly for curtains and blinds while still feeling suitably soft for relaxed furnishings. The usable width is 136cm, with a horizontal pattern repeat of 68cm and a vertical repeat of 70cm, so the large-scale motif can be planned carefully across wider drops. In this colourway, the grey background keeps the blues cool and calm, while the white clustered blossoms and turquoise accents add brightness without pushing the palette into anything overly vivid. The surface appearance is crisp and clean rather than plush, which suits the delicate linework and scattered botanical detail. Dry clean only; iron safe; not fire retardant.

How to use it

Use Ailsa Blue in a light-filled sitting room or bedroom where its soft blue ground can sit comfortably alongside white paintwork, linen, and pale wood. It also works well as full-length curtains or Roman blinds when you want pattern without losing the room’s calm, cool feel.

Pair with chalky neutrals or pale oak to let the airy blue botanicals lead.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
