Violet Grasses Moss

A Celebration of the National Trust FabricSAF0353-01

Violet Grasses Moss brings a soft botanical pattern to a muted moss ground, with the leaf forms reading in a pale, chalky contrast. The overall effect is earthy and gentle rather than vivid, with the design sitting clearly against the woven-looking background.

About this fabric

This Sanderson fabric is specified at 137 cm usable width and 331 gsm, so it has the substance to handle upholstery as well as more structured soft furnishings. The pattern repeat is generous at 68.6 cm vertical and 69 cm horizontal, which suits the large-scale, layered grasses and stems seen in the image. Visually, the colourway mixes an olive-moss ground with off-white detailing, creating a low-sheen, weathered finish that feels grounded and natural. The dense thread count of 117 threads per cm helps explain the crispness of the motif and the tactile, tightly worked appearance.

How to use it

Use this moss colourway on a chair or banquette where the pale foliage can stand out against timber, plaster, or limestone finishes. It also works well with warm neutrals and aged brass, keeping the room calm but not flat.

The pale leafwork softens the moss ground, giving a quietly natural look for characterful seating or statement drapery.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Violet Grasses Moss without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
