Violet Grasses Cobalt

A Celebration of the National Trust FabricSAF0353-02

Violet Grasses Cobalt has a fresh, cool teal ground with a softly weathered look, overlaid with pale leaf forms and slender stems. The large botanical pattern feels airy rather than dense, with the design taking on a chalky, layered quality in the weave.

About this fabric

This Sanderson fabric is supplied as a 137 cm-wide textile with a 68.6 cm vertical repeat and 69 cm horizontal repeat, making the scale of the botanical print feel generous across a room. At 331 gsm and 117 threads per cm, it reads as a substantial cloth with enough body for upholstery, while still suitable for drapery where a more tailored hang is wanted. The Violet Grasses Cobalt colourway pairs a saturated cobalt-teal ground with softened ivory marking, so the motif stands out clearly without feeling stark. Its surface has a slightly washed, textured appearance that gives the foliage depth and keeps the overall effect lively but composed.

How to use it

The cool teal base works especially well with pale timber, chalky paint colours and stone finishes, bringing contrast without heaviness. Use it on an accent chair or curtains in a bright room to let the ivory foliage pattern read crisply against the deeper ground.

Use for statement upholstery or full-length drapery where the pale leaf work can breathe.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
