Forest of Dean Mulberry/Multi

Arboretum Fabrics FabricSAF0398-02

Forest of Dean Mulberry/Multi is a busy woodland print on a soft cream ground, with mulberry branches and a scatter of birds, deer, flowers and mushrooms in bright accent colours. The palette feels playful and decorative, with the cream background keeping the design open and light.

About this fabric

This Sanderson fabric from the Arboretum Fabrics collection has a substantial 710 gsm weight and a usable width of 128 cm, so it reads as a cloth with real body rather than a delicate print. The design repeats on a large 78 cm vertical and 65 cm horizontal pattern repeat, which suits the generous spacing of the animals, trees and flowering stems visible here. In this colourway, the mulberry branches bring depth and contrast against the creamy base, while the blue birds, mustard deer and pink blooms add a cheerful, storybook brightness. With 34 threads per cm and no performance finish noted, it is best appreciated for decorative upholstery where the woven surface and lively motif can be seen clearly.

How to use it

This colourway works well on an accent chair, ottoman or blind where the mulberry stems and bright birds can be shown off. Pair it with cream paintwork, walnut wood and a few plain cushions in blue or berry tones to echo the print without overwhelming it.

Use with plain linens or dark timber to let the lively mulberry ground do the talking.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
