Galloway Plaid Charcoal

Lisle FabricF2306-03

Galloway Plaid Charcoal shows a classic tartan layout in a deep, grounded palette of charcoal, burgundy, olive and muted tan. The wool surface gives the checks a soft, slightly brushed depth rather than a crisp printed finish.

About this fabric

Woven in 100% wool, this fabric has the reassuring weight and handle you expect from a textile suited to both upholstery and drapery. The pattern is a sizeable plaid, with an approximate vertical repeat of 30cm and horizontal repeat of 25.5cm, giving the check a broad, confident rhythm across the cloth. In this colourway, the charcoal grounds the design while the red and olive stripes add warmth and a distinctly country-house feel. The overall effect is deep, seasonal and textural, with the weave softening the contrast so the checks read as layered rather than flat.

How to use it

Use it to bring depth to an armchair, banquette or curtain panels where the charcoal ground can settle into a room. It pairs especially well with aged wood, leather, brass and painted neutrals that pick up the plaid's muted red and olive notes.

A rich tartan that brings warmth and character to classic country schemes.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
