About this fabric
Catalogued as Velvet, Tarmac has a smooth-looking pile that catches the light in restrained charcoal highlights across the folds. The near-black tone shifts from graphite grey on raised ridges to deeper black in the valleys, giving the plain surface visible depth. No performance features are noted for this fabric, so its appeal here is the tactile, softly lustrous finish shown in the photograph.
How to use it
Use this deep charcoal-black colourway on a statement armchair, sofa or headboard where its low-key sheen can add depth without introducing a pattern. Pair it with pale stone, warm timber or brushed metal to balance its near-black tone.
A near-black velvet with softly shifting sheen that brings depth to upholstered seating.

Pairs well with
Eco-Velvet Tarmac is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it
Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
