Chesterfield Fabric

Chesterfield Obsidian presents a near-black surface with subtle charcoal variation across its face. The close, pebbled texture gives this dark colourway depth without introducing a visible motif.

About this fabric

In the swatch, the near-black ground is softened by minute charcoal-grey variation rather than a flat, ink-black finish. A fine irregular pebble texture runs across the face, creating a low-relief look that becomes more apparent where the light catches it. There is no visible printed motif; the interest comes from the closely distributed tonal flecks and restrained surface movement. The depth of the shade gives the textile a polished, architectural feel while retaining tactile character.

How to use it

Use this cool, near-black colourway on a statement armchair, sofa or headboard where its subtly mottled surface can add depth without a strong pattern. Balance the dark tone with chalky walls, pale timber or brushed metal accents.

Pair its near-black, lightly mottled surface with pale timber or warm metal for contrast.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
