About this colour

At #88888A, Double Empire Grey reads as a cool, even grey with a faint blue note, so it feels crisp rather than muddy. It reflects some light without looking pale, giving a room a settled, architectural presence. In north-facing rooms it can appear a touch cooler and more slate-like, while in south-facing light it softens slightly and shows its balanced grey character more clearly. It sits well beside white or off-white joinery, dark timber, and upholstered pieces in linen, wool, velvet or patterned fabrics with blue, silver or charcoal tones. In Acrylic Eggshell, Elite Emulsion or True Matt, it works equally well on walls or woodwork where a quiet, even grey is needed.

How to use it
