Checkmate Obsidian

Checkmate Fabric

Checkmate Obsidian brings a bold, graphic rhythm through alternating charcoal-black and ivory squares. Its softly irregular edges and ridged surface keep the contrast tactile rather than stark.

About this fabric

The dark checks read as softened charcoal rather than flat jet black, set against a warm ivory ground. Each square has subtly uneven edges, giving the orderly grid a handmade, woven character. Fine horizontal ridges are visible across both tones, catching the light and adding surface depth. No performance features are noted in the supplied specification, so this colourway is best assessed visually for upholstery applications.

How to use it

Use the charcoal-and-ivory contrast on a statement armchair, dining seat or ottoman, pairing it with warm timber and quiet ivory upholstery elsewhere. The softened black tone also works well with brushed metal and deeper charcoal accents.

Use this graphic charcoal-and-ivory check to give upholstery a tailored, high-contrast finish.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
