Comet Charcoal

Equinox FabricCCF0249-01

Comet Charcoal is a dense-looking woven textile arranged in closely spaced horizontal zigzag bands. Its cool charcoal ground is softened by alternating cream, taupe and pale grey lines, giving the swatch a layered, gently textured appearance.

About this fabric

At 480gsm, this substantial Clarke & Clarke fabric is well suited to upholstery, with a 137cm usable width for covering larger pieces efficiently. The small geometric repeat measures 3cm vertically and 1.5cm horizontally, creating a fine, regular chevron-like rhythm rather than a bold oversized pattern. Charcoal and deep brown-grey lines bring definition, while the cream and taupe threads catch the light across the weave and prevent the colourway from reading as flat black. The standard length is 40m.

How to use it

Use Comet Charcoal on a sofa, headboard or dining chair in a cool neutral scheme, pairing its charcoal depth with pale stone, warm white and natural timber. The fine zigzag texture also suits tailored cushions where the cream and taupe accents can be picked out in plain surrounding fabrics.

Use this cool charcoal colourway on tailored upholstery where its fine cream and taupe zigzags can add texture without dominating the room.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Comet Charcoal without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
