Carnforth Slate Blue

Tarn FabricF4799-05

Carnforth Slate Blue shows a fine, vertical stripe effect in a misty blue ground, softened by pale, chalky threads. The overall look is calm and airy, with a lightly textured surface that reads refined rather than bold.

About this fabric

Carnforth Slate Blue from Colefax and Fowler’s Tarn collection is a fabric with a subtle striped appearance and no repeat, making the rhythm feel neatly ordered across the cloth. The 139cm approx width and composition of 41% viscose, 40% linen, 11% cotton, 5% acrylic and 3% polyester suggest a versatile woven handle with a natural, gently slubbed character. In this colourway, the blue is cool and diluted, sitting between slate and powder tones with a soft, weathered quality that keeps it from feeling sharp. The pale vertical striations lift the surface and give the fabric a fresh, understated finish. Care code Q 8 + T 3 and fire code √BM are supplied for reference.

How to use it

Use this soft slate blue to bring a tailored, coastal calm to a room, especially on neat upholstered pieces or simple curtains. It sits well with pale oak, brushed nickel and chalky neutrals, where its cool blue-grey note can stay gentle.

A cool, quietly tailored stripe that works neatly on upholstery or relaxed curtains.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Carnforth Slate Blue without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
