Nouvelles Vagues Grafite

Velvet fabrics Velvet007

Nouvelles Vagues Grafite combines a pale cream ground with rows of charcoal-black, irregular wave marks. The contrast is graphic but restrained, while the visible textile texture keeps the surface tactile rather than stark.

About this fabric

Catalogued as a velvet, this colourway is shown with a finely textured textile surface and a softly varied ground rather than a smooth, uniform finish. Short horizontal marks repeat in staggered rows, each with an uneven, brush-like edge that gives the pattern its movement. The charcoal-black motif sits clearly against the warm pale cream background, creating a cool, monochrome-leaning contrast with more depth than a plain black-and-white design. The irregular drawing and gentle surface texture make the pattern feel considered and tactile at close range.

How to use it

Use Grafite on an occasional chair, headboard or tailored sofa where its pale cream ground can brighten the room while the charcoal waves introduce a strong linear accent. Pair it with chalky neutrals, charcoal upholstery or dark timber to echo the colourway’s graphic contrast.

A pale cream ground and charcoal wave marks bring graphic contrast to upholstered seating and occasional pieces.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
