Velvet fabrics Velvet006

Nuvolari Quasinero presents a nearly black velvet surface with a quiet charcoal cast. Its short nap shifts subtly across the face, preventing the deep shade from reading as completely flat.

About this fabric

The swatch is an opaque, plain velvet in an exceptionally dark black-charcoal tone, with no visible printed motif or contrasting pattern. Soft variations in the nap appear as faint smoky patches, especially where the surface catches the light. This restrained movement gives the colour depth while preserving its strongly tailored, almost architectural character. The weight and plush surface visible here make it particularly convincing for upholstery.

How to use it

Use this near-black velvet on a sculptural armchair, sofa or headboard where its light-absorbing depth can anchor a room. Pair it with pale stone, brushed metal or warm timber to bring out the subtle charcoal dimension in the nap.

A near-black velvet with a softly shifting nap, suited to tailored upholstery and dramatic, low-light interiors.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
