Melrose Red

Misc Fabric

Melrose Red brings a grounded tartan check to the Misc collection, with muted red bands set against earthy beige, taupe and charcoal tones. The pattern reads bold but worn-in, giving it an easy, heritage feel rather than a sharp, high-contrast one.

About this fabric

This fabric is composed of 83% Polyester and 17% Cotton and has a width of 140cm, making it a practical textile for upholstery projects. The 35cm pattern repeat supports the large-scale check, where the red stripes are softened by natural-looking brown and stone-coloured grounds. In this colourway, the red appears deep and slightly dusty, with the weave catching light in a way that keeps it from feeling brash. The overall effect is classic and relaxed, with a slightly brushed texture visible in the surface.

How to use it

Use Melrose Red on an armchair, ottoman or bench where the tartan can be seen clearly and the red can warm up the room. It works especially well with aged oak, tan leather and oatmeal linens, which echo the fabric’s muted, country-house palette.

Pair with warm neutrals or dark wood for a classic country look.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
