Misc Fabric

Melrose Elephant is shown here as a quietly tailored plaid in layered taupe, grey and soft brown tones. The woven surface has a crisp, slightly brushed look that gives the check a calm, lived-in character.

About this fabric

This Porter & Stone fabric is composed of 83% Polyester and 17% Cotton, with a 140cm width and a 35cm pattern repeat. In this colourway, the small herringbone-like weave softens the larger plaid, letting the taupe ground sit beside cooler grey threads and darker charcoal pinstripes. The result is a muted, balanced check that feels more understated than high-contrast, with the lighter bands lifting subtly against the denser intersections. It is a fabric that reads smart and practical rather than decorative, and the BQV1< care code should be followed for maintenance.

How to use it

Use this tone on an armchair, bench or Roman blind where the measured taupe check can add pattern without overpowering the room. It pairs especially well with natural wood, stone, and warm off-white paint.

A restrained taupe check that works neatly across tailored upholstery and soft drapes.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
