Melrose Ochre

Misc Fabric

Melrose Ochre pairs a soft, washed ochre ground with fine taupe checks and darker charcoal pinstripes. The result is a relaxed plaid with a woven, lightly heathered look that feels warm rather than brash.

About this fabric

This Porter & Stone fabric is composed of 83% polyester and 17% cotton, giving the cloth a practical mixed-fibre handle with a clearly textured woven surface. At 140cm wide and with a 35cm pattern repeat, the design reads as a generous check rather than a petite tartan. In this colourway, the ochre lines sit over a pale neutral base, so the pattern feels sunny and earthy, while the darker stripes keep it grounded. The herringbone-like weave detail softens the overall effect and adds depth when the light catches the surface.

How to use it

Use Melrose Ochre to bring warmth to a country-inspired sofa, occasional chair or bench cushion, especially alongside oak, aged brass and cream paint. It also works well for full-length curtains where the ochre check can read softly against daylight.

A warm ochre check that adds easy country character to either curtains or upholstered accents.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
