Morton Red
Bampton FabricF4899-02
Morton Red is a quietly textured plain with a warm terracotta-red cast and a natural, woven look. Its close weave gives the colour a softened, matte finish rather than a glossy or saturated sheen.

About this fabric
Morton Red from the Bampton collection by Colefax and Fowler is a fabric with no visible repeat, making the weave and colour the focus rather than pattern. The surface reads as a refined blend of muted red, clay and blush tones, with the linen and cotton content giving it a dry, slightly slubby character. At approximately 140cm wide and composed of 34% viscose, 33% cotton, 26% linen and 7% polyester, it has the feel of a versatile decorative cloth rather than a heavy upholstery-only textile. The tone is warmer than a brick red and softer than a classic crimson, which keeps it approachable and easy to layer. Its understated texture and low-key finish make it suitable for relaxed interiors that still want colour with depth.
How to use it
Use Morton Red on a pair of upholstered occasional chairs or a headboard to bring a warm, earthy accent into a scheme. It pairs naturally with oak, parchment neutrals and faded greens, where its muted terracotta note feels especially rich.
A warm, grounded red that works well on tailored upholstery or simple curtains.

Pairs well with
Morton Red is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it
Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
