Cotley Red
Bampton FabricF4897-06
Cotley Red is a quietly textured plain with a soft, sandy surface and a muted red-brown cast. The overall effect is warm rather than bright, with tiny flecks in the weave giving the colour a drier, more antique feel.

About this fabric
This Bampton fabric has a fine, even plain weave that reads as softly granular rather than flat, which suits both upholstery and drapery uses. The colour sits between brick red, terracotta and faded rosewood, so it feels grounded and understated rather than vivid. With a width of approximately 139cm and a composition of 61% viscose, 19% cotton, 11% linen and 9% polyester, it has the balanced handle and subtle softness expected of a versatile furnishing cloth. The repeat is stated as vertical 0cm and horizontal 0cm approximately, confirming the design as a plain surface with no directional motif to interrupt the colour. The result is a smart, adaptable red that brings warmth without overpowering a room.
How to use it
Use Cotley Red on a sofa, slipper chair or loose cover if you want a colour with depth but no pattern. It also works well at the window, where the dusty terracotta tone will soften daylight and sit comfortably with oak, limestone and aged brass.
A warm, earthy red that works neatly across tailored upholstery and relaxed curtains.

Pairs well with
Cotley Red is a quiet cloth, so it carries a pattern beside it: one of these on the curtains and this on the chair. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it
Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
