Derwent Bordeaux

Plains & Semi Plains Fabric

Derwent Bordeaux is a richly textured woven fabric with a deep wine-red ground and a fine crosshatch effect that gives the surface subtle movement. The folds show a warm plum-brown depth, softened by lighter ochre threads through the weave.

About this fabric

This colourway has a brooding bordeaux base with plum and brown undertones, lifted by narrow flecks of gold-toned yarn that catch the light across the weave. The visible texture feels dry and linen-rich rather than smooth or shiny, which suits the specified 60% Linen 40% Cotton composition. With a 140cm width and a pattern repeat of 0cm, it reads as a straightforward plain fabric rather than a directional pattern. The overall effect is smart and grounded, with enough texture to add interest without overwhelming a room.

How to use it

Use this shade on an accent chair, banquet seating or tailored cushions where the warm red-brown tone can sit against oak, brass or dark painted timber. It would also add depth in a room with cream or putty walls, where the lighter weave detail can be seen clearly.

A rich, low-lustre bordeaux that brings warmth and depth to tailored seating or refined cushions.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
