Cayman Slate is a quietly tonal plain with a cool slate-green cast and a soft, low-sheen finish. The close weave gives it a neat, practical look that feels tailored rather than decorative.

About this fabric

This colourway reads as a muted slate green, with a cool grey undertone that deepens the surface and keeps it feeling understated. The fabric is a plain from the Cayman collection by J Brown, woven in 100% polyester for general domestic use. With a Martindale rub test of 25,000, it offers a useful level of durability for everyday seating. It is supplied back coated to Cigarette & Match to BS5852, and can be machine washed at 30℃ or professionally dry cleaned in situ, subject to the pattern book instructions.

How to use it

Use Cayman Slate on a sofa, banquette or accent chair where its dark, settled tone can anchor lighter woods, stone and pale neutrals. It pairs particularly well with chalky creams, brushed brass and other cool greens for a layered, contemporary scheme.

A cool, understated green that works beautifully on tailored upholstery and clean-lined schemes.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
