Vector Chalk

4d Upholstery Fabric

Vector Chalk combines a pale chalk ground with softly contrasting beige lines that shift between straight, broken and gently wavering verticals. Its close-up texture gives the light colourway a subtle woven depth rather than a flat finish.

About this fabric

The fabric is built from narrow vertical bands that bend and interrupt across the surface, creating a measured geometric pattern with an organic, hand-drawn feel. In this Chalk colourway, warm ivory and restrained beige keep the design light, quiet and versatile, while the small tonal changes prevent it from appearing stark. The visible weave adds fine surface texture, catching the light differently across the raised and recessed lines. It is catalogued as a fabric in Kirkby Design’s 4d Upholstery collection, making upholstery its natural application.

How to use it

Pair the chalky ground with warm oak, natural linen and soft beige upholstery for a calm contemporary room. The broken vertical movement also works well on a statement chair or compact sofa, where the pattern can be seen at close range.

Use this quietly graphic chalk-and-beige upholstery on contemporary seating where its broken vertical rhythm can stand out.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
