Boxes Noir

Lines Fabric

Boxes Noir is a deeply coloured woven fabric with a near-black ground and a close-up pattern of tiny, irregular box-like marks. Fine lighter flecks break through the dark surface, giving the swatch a quietly dimensional finish.

About this fabric

The dense weave reads as charcoal-black overall, with muted warm-grey and brownish highlights appearing between the small, broken rectangular motifs. Its compact, tactile structure gives the colourway a grounded, substantial appearance suited to upholstery rather than a light, fluid treatment. The pattern remains subtle at close range, creating texture and depth without becoming visually busy. This fabric is catalogued with no performance features noted.

How to use it

Use Boxes Noir on a tailored sofa, occasional chair or dining seat where its near-black tone can anchor a room. Pair it with pale timber, warm metal and softly coloured textiles to bring out the faint warmth in its woven flecks.

Use this deep, textural black weave to add graphic definition to contemporary upholstery.

Pairs well with

A pattern needs somewhere for the eye to rest, so these are the plains and textures that sit beside Boxes Noir without fighting it. Mixed across the houses we hold, which is the part a single supplier's book cannot do.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
