About this fabric

The image shows an even brown surface with very little visible pattern, allowing the subtle tonal variation of the cloth to define its character. Fine, close texture catches the light softly across the swatch without creating a pronounced sheen. No composition, width or performance figures are supplied for this fabric, so its visual simplicity is the main feature available to assess. The dark elm-brown tone gives it a composed, tailored presence on upholstered forms.

How to use it

Use Smooth Elm on a clean-lined sofa, armchair or headboard where its smoky brown tone can add depth without dominating the room. Pair it with warm timber, aged brass and lighter oatmeal textiles to bring out its softened, earthy character.

A restrained, softly textured brown for tailored upholstery with a calm, contemporary feel.

Paint that goes with it

Two ways to take the room. Both colours are from houses we hold, so a pot can come off the same order as the cloth. Screens shift colour, so treat these as a direction and bring the cloth to the shelf before you buy the paint.
